Munster Football Final Is a Great occasion in Killarney

The Munster Football Final is the premier game in the Gaelic Football calendar in Munster. All six counties take part: Tipperary, Waterford, Limerick, Clare, Kerry and Cork. The teams play following an open draw and the two teams that win all their games strengthen to the final. The feature of the year is a Kerry and Cork Final.

Kerry has won a total of 73 titles since the competition was started in 1887. Winning the Munster Title is an honour in itself and the winning team represents Munster in The All Ireland Series. Kerry won The Munster Final in 2010. The game was played in Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney. At the final whistle the teams were level. They replay was played in Cork.

If Kerry plays Cork in The Munster Final the teams rotate venues. The feature of the year is when both teams meet in the final in Killarney. However they may also meet earlier in the series: first round, quarter final or semi final. The game if played earlier than the Final is all the time known as the real Munster Final as both teams play top class football.

Interview With Frank McGee, Author of "A Song for the World"

Frank McGee has built a powerful work as a writer and journalist over half a century. In the tumultuous 1960s he covered stories as far afield as Brazil, Indonesia, and Viet Nam. As managing editor of "Pace" magazine, a modern of "Life, Look, and Holiday," he worked with understanding leaders from around the world.

During the 1970s, McGee launched and edited "New Worlds," the signature magazine of California's Orange Coast. The University of California at Irvine tapped him to write the coffee table book commemorating the school's first twenty-five years. In the '80s and '90s, he authored and edited books on a range of topics that were published in a dozen languages. Today, he lives with his wife in Tucson, Arizona.

Tyler: Thank you, Frank, for joining me. You're here today to tell us about your new book "A Song for the World" which tells the story of how the Colwell Brothers and Herb Allen used music to bring peace and diplomacy to the world, particularly straight through the group, Up with People. To begin, will you tell our readers a diminutive bit about how it began?

choice Day - 2011 in Jamaica

As habitancy procure all clad in their various party colors of green or orange to vote on this, Jamaica's 2011 choice day, the excitement continues to build. So far there is peace and we hope that this remains. I have heard few honks of the horn and whistles blowing as that will be reserved for the grand proclamation of the winner; later some will celebrate their parties victory while others will mourn their loss.

To an outsider looking at the days events unfolding you can't help but feel like you are a part of an island wide sports day. habitancy singing, dancing and cheering their team to victory. Guaranteed not many know what their party truly stands for, they naturally vote for the party because their mother, father or grandparents used to vote for that party; "their team, is my team". It's like an inheritance.

In the past, choice days have been feared due to the violence that ensues when a member of one of the two political parties, The People's National Party (Pnp) and Jamaica Labour Party (Jlp), believes his/her party lost unjustly and thereby decides to take, sometimes violent, action out on any member of the opposing party.
